How to Select the Right Access Point for Your Project

Selecting the right access point for your project is easy when you ask these two questions:

  1. Is at-grade or above-grade access needed? At-grade access is good for connecting to a tracer wire system in the middle of a yard or roadway, while above-grade is good for attaching to another object like a fire hydrant or gas meter.
  2. How many terminals are needed? A good rule of thumb is this: if you need to draw a signal TO the access point, 2+ terminals is best – one or more for tracer wire and one for grounding wire. If you’ll always be locating FROM that point to another point, only one terminal is needed for tracer wire. However, if you’d like the ability to ground the locate transmitter using the access point connected to a ground rod, then 2+ terminals is your best option.

Copperhead® offers at-grade and above-grade solutions with up to five terminals, and we can help you determine the right access points for your specific project.
